In Hebrew, it\u2019s selichah\u2014rooted in the verb salach, which means to pardon. This isn\u2019t just a word; it\u2019s a window into how God meets us at our lowest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s something that always stops me in my tracks: throughout the entire Hebrew Bible, <strong>the authors describe only God as doing this kind of pardoning<\/strong>. No one else gets that job description<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When people forgive each other in Scripture, the words are different\u2014like nasa, which means to lift and carry away, or machah, to blot out. But salach? Scripture <strong>reserves that word for God alone<\/strong>. Only He can reach the deepest places of our guilt and clear them out completely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udd4a\ufe0f A Weight Only One Can Lift<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes, even the people who love us most can\u2019t quite reach the ache we carry. Friends can offer grace, a spouse can reassure us, and those are real gifts. But if you\u2019ve ever felt a heaviness that no one else\u2019s words can lift, you\u2019re not alone. That\u2019s often a sign you\u2019re carrying a burden only God can clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No human \u2018it\u2019s fine\u2019 can reach the place that needs selichah. Only God\u2019s pardon goes that deep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udf3f Who He Is, Not Just What He Does<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Notice how the Psalmist describes Him: not merely that God&nbsp;<em>will<\/em>&nbsp;forgive, but that He&nbsp;<strong>is<\/strong>&nbsp;good and forgiving\u2014<strong>tov v\u2019salach<\/strong>(<em>\u05d8\u05d5\u05b9\u05d1 \u05d5\u05b0\u05e1\u05b7\u05dc\u05b8\u05bc\u05d7<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God\u2019s forgiveness isn\u2019t something you have to earn or negotiate for. He isn\u2019t holding back, waiting for you to say the right words.&nbsp;<strong>Forgiveness is simply what He\u2019s like.<\/strong>&nbsp;Tonight, you can stop bargaining and just receive what He\u2019s already offering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udd6f\ufe0f A Moment to Rest<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Name the weight:<\/strong>\u00a0What burden have you been asking people\u2014or yourself\u2014to absolve? Hand it over to the only One whose authority reaches the root.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Receive the nature of God:<\/strong>\u00a0Approach Him knowing He isn\u2019t waiting to be convinced.
